How We Review
Our methodology rests on publicly available facts rather than marketing claims. When we evaluate an operator, we examine what can be independently verified: licence status in regulatory registries, terms published on the operator’s website, and historical consistency of how they communicate with players.
What we assess
We begin with regulatory standing. The operator publishes details of their licence on their own website; we cross-reference that information against the UK Gambling Commission’s public register to confirm the licence status and the entity to which it was granted. This tells us whether the operator operates under current, valid authority.
We then examine the terms that the operator presents to new and existing players. We review bonus conditions, withdrawal policies, and account restrictions as they appear on the operator’s site, looking for clarity and compliance with current regulatory requirements. We assess responsible gambling tools—deposit limits, self-exclusion options, and cooling-off periods—and verify that these are accessible and functional.
We also track communication patterns. An operator that responds promptly to regulatory requests, publishes clear contact information, and maintains consistent messaging across their channels tends to demonstrate greater reliability than one with opacity or gaps in their public position.
How rating changes happen
Our review is not a snapshot. We revisit operators periodically to identify material changes: updates to their licence status, shifts in their ownership structure, new complaints or enforcement actions in the public domain, or changes to terms that significantly affect player protection. When we become aware of such changes through regulatory announcements or operator communications, we update our assessment.
We do not, however, attempt to predict future regulatory action or to audit an operator’s internal controls. We work from what is published and confirmed.
What we do not review
We do not collect or verify information about the operator’s legal entity, beneficial owners, or registered address. The operator discloses this information on their site; readers can verify it through the relevant company registry or regulator. This is not our role, and we do not republish unverified corporate details.
We also do not assess the quality of the operator’s customer service through direct contact, nor do we test their payment processing or withdrawal times. We note only whether players have publicly documented recurring issues with these services—patterns that emerge across independent reviews and regulatory complaints.
Our focus is narrow by design: can we confirm the operator holds a valid licence, and do their published terms meet the baseline standards expected in a regulated market? That is what we answer.
